Wellington Station celebrates 150 years of existence

On 4 November 1863 the above engine brought the first train to Wellington Station.  Attached were three carriages – first class, second class and third class.  It was a momentous occasion and visitors came from far and wide to attend the opening ceremony.
Market Square (the Pick-‘n-Pay area) became the hubbub of the village.  The old market hall adjoining Market Square today houses the Wellington Tourism Offices.
Festivities are planned throughout 2013 culminating in a grand ceremony in November.
